New Glasses

After two months, I finally have new glasses. Got the first pair in November. One lens had a small scratch so they had to make me another lens. Picked them up a week later. I only wore them for a day or two before deciding I didn't really like them. After Christmas, I took advantage of the 60 day satisfaction guaranteed option and went to select new frames with the help of my mom. Another week later, I picked up the new glasses and loved them. But after wearing them for a couple days, I realized that there was a small gap between the left lens and the frame. My perfectionist tendencies are much more relaxed now than they were before I had children, but I still couldn't handle that. So I took them back and they sent them off to remake and recut a new lens. Several days later, I went back to pick them up and the gap was smaller but still there. So they sent them back in, and yesterday I picked them up. Gap free. Yippee!

Now the only problem is that I think I'm not quite hip enough for my new frames...

Wind

Aaah, the wind today. I feel like I'm a kid growing up in Lubbock again. 40 mph winds, brown dust-filled skies, sneezing like crazy, home. This pic is of an inflatable star in our tree being blown around by the lovely wind. Shutter speed 1/6 second to capture the wind. I even used a tripod. Can you tell?

Conch Shells

I took these photos on two different mornings in Turks and Caicos. Different conch shells but the same location. Isn't it amazing how the water color changes from day to day?

Blogging Every Day

My friend, Lisa, challenged me to join her in posting every single day this year to one of my blogs. I think her goal is to post a picture every day and so far she's posted some really interesting shots. I'm not sure if I'll actually do that but I do plan to try to post something every day. And as my mother and grandmother would know since they check for new entries every day, I haven't been very good about writing them lately. I've been averaging about once a month so this will be a big change. I created this blog in case I want to post pictures of things other than my children. Pictures of them will obviously go on their blogs.

And so today, I post my first attempt at using a slower shutter speed to make flowing water look silky.
